I traveled to Madagascar from 2017 Nov 1 to Nov 28 to coordinate the setting of the SATREPS research project experiments for the 2017-2018 cropping season. We have selected three different rice producing areas to evaluate the field performance of both lowland and upland lines. The set of lowland lines is composed of a set of selected breeding lines, and genotypes from the genome-wide association studies (GWAS) panel, while the upland set included selected breeding lines only. Together with our project counterparts (C/Ps), we have sown our lowland materials in raised-bed soil at farmer fields. In addition, we have visited the laboratory and greenhouse allocated to our Project to evaluate their actual condition, and suggest items for furnishing our office attached to the laboratory, and to renovate the greenhouse according to our Project aims.
