成果の概要

I have traveled to Madagascar from 2018 July 24 to August 13 to coordinate and perform a drought experiment using a breeding population developed in JIRCAS. The experimental sites (drought/control) are located in Moramanga region. The rice seedlings are growing slowly due to predominant rainy days in the region. We have coordinated the land preparation and transplant of the seedling for the coming weeks. In addition, we are performing seed multiplication in an experimental site located in Moravoay (Mahajanga). The resulting seed of selected breeding lines will be used for the next cropping season. The rice plants are growing well under the warm weather, and the early-maturing types are starting to flower. We have also visited the greenhouse allocated to our project to revise our proposal design and cost for reconditioning the greenhouse according to our project aims. The revised proposal will be used to initiate the rehabilitation bidding process.
