1300. UN Food Systems Summit +4 Stocktake (UNFSS+4)

In September 2021, the UN Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) was held based on UN Secretary-General António Guterres' belief that a transition to a sustainable food system would be essential for achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As a follow-up to this initial summit, the UN Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment (UNFSS+2) was held in July 2023 at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy.

The 2nd UN Food Systems Summit Stocktake (UNFSS+4) will take place from July 27 to 29, 2025, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, co-hosted by Ethiopia and Italy. As we approach four years since the 2021 UNFSS, UNFSS+4 will provide a platform for reflecting on progress, strengthening collaboration, and unlocking finance and investments to accelerate food systems transformation.

The report published by the UN last year identified UNFSS+4 priorities, including addressing climate change, biodiversity, nutrition, and issues related to hunger and poverty (through food system transformation), as well as measuring impacts.

JIRCAS will also participate in UNFSS+4 with domestic and international partners. We will report on this in the Pick Up section soon.
