成果の概要
As part of preparations for a new research project, aimed at securing a mid- to long-term operational grant, we conducted a field study on rice cultivation methods in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam. In a triple-cropping intensive rice paddy field surrounded by comprehensive dike levees, we collected soil samples to examine how irrigation affects soil nutrient variations within and between fields. In addition, we explored methods to quantify sediment caused by flooding in a double-cropping rice field bordered by semi-dike levees that flood during the rainy season. We discussed approaches to design cultivation experiments to assess sediment's impact on rice productivity and conducted soil sampling beforehand. Furthermore, we visited the Cuu Long Delta Rice Research Institute (CLRRI) in Can Tho and discussed cooperation frameworks and future collaboration strategies for research in the Mekong Delta region.
