成果の概要

To identify opportunities for collaborative research on lychee and passion fruit in Vietnam, visits were made to the Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) and farms in Bac Giang and Dak Nong, Vietnam. These visits provided valuable insights into cultivation practices, cultivar traits, and post-harvest challenges. Plans for future joint research projects were discussed with lecturers from VNUA and researchers from the Southern Horticultural Research Institute(SOFRI), focusing on the genetic evaluation, breeding infrastructure development and post-harvest improvement for lychee and passion fruit. In Malaysia, Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Insititute (MARDI) Sintok was visited to observe ongoing tropical fruit research, such as durian, mango, and mangosteen. At MARDI Serdang HQ, discussions were held to advance collaborative efforts on strawberry cultivation under tropical and subtropical conditions. A visit to Universiti Putra Malaysia(UPM) offered exposure to their research in AI and IoT research in agriculture. These visits offered practical insights, establishing initial research connections, and helped to plan for future medium- to long-term collaborative research projects.
