成果の概要

The 17th International Symposium on Rice Functional Genomics (ISRFG2019) was held at the Academia Sinica in Taipei, Taiwan, from November 4-6. Organizers had invited me to give an oral presentation in the session “Translational Genomics” and I chose to give a presentation with the title: Developing nutrient efficient rice adapted to low-fertility soils in Africa.
Before the conference I was able to meet with collaborators to discuss work on Genome-Wide Association Studies based on potential effects of transposons (transposon-GWAS), and to discuss ways to improve the marker set we have available for QTL mapping in interspecific populations involving an Oryza glaberrima parent.
After the conference I had the chance to visit the rice genomics/breeding group at Taiwan National University and we discussed their strategy for genomic selection. Last I had a meeting with members from HarvestPlus in order to plan experiments on Zn biofortification in Madagascar.
