On December 9, the EU's Copernicus Climate Change Service announced that November 2024 was the second-highest monthly temperature ever recorded, confirming the forecast that 2024 will be the warmest year.
The global mean surface temperature in November 2024 was 1.62°C higher than pre-industrial levels, the second warmest November on record after November 2023, with an average surface temperature of 14.10°C, 0.73°C above the average for November 1991-2020.
Year-to-date (January-November 2024), the global mean temperature anomaly is 0.72°C above the 1991-2020 average, which is the highest ever for this period and 0.14°C higher than the same period in 2023.
