1080. Southeast Asia Liaison Office News: Thailand National Science and Technology Fair 2024 Opens

The Thailand National Science and Technology Fair 2024 (NST) opened on August 16th at the IMPACT Arena, Exhibition & Convention Center. It is the largest science and technology fair in Thailand, attracting approximately 200,000 visitors each year, mainly local elementary, junior high, and high school students.

The NST 2024 is a national event held annually by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) with the aim of promoting science and technology, and displays the latest science and technology in various fields such as agriculture, education, and space.

The JIRCAS Southeast Asia Liaison Office has exhibited at this expo every year since 2007, except for two years when it was unable to participate due to COVID-19. This year, the Japan Pavilion, organized by the Embassy of Japan in Thailand, is exhibiting the results of international collaborative research with the Institute of Food Research and Product Development of Kasetsart University on khanom chin, a traditional Thai fermented food.

In addition to JIRCAS, the Japan Pavilion also includes exhibits from the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), Kyoto University/ Japan-ASEAN Science, Technology and Innovation Platform (JASTIP), Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Chulalongkorn University, the International Origami Airplane Association, and the Cabinet Office.

The expo will be held for 10 days until August 25.
