The goal-oriented “Basic research with a view to developing technology seeds that will lead to future innovation” was recently launched under the Fourth Medium to Long-Term Plan. It tackles novel research ideas in the hope that the results of pure research may lead to technological innovation and creation of new businesses in the agricultural, forestry, fishery, and food industries.
