1504. Announcement of the Policy Research Institute Seminar: “Current Situation and Future Outlook for Global Agricultural Supply and Demand”

The Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute (FAPRI), headquartered at the University of Missouri-Columbia in the United States, collaborates with other universities to publish medium- and long-term outlooks for global agricultural supply and demand, with a particular focus on U.S. agricultural markets.

At this seminar, Dr. Seth Meyer, Director of FAPRI and former Chief Economist of the USDA, together with Dr. Wyatt Thompson, who specializes in U.S. and global agricultural supply-demand and policy analysis, will provide analyses of current agricultural supply, demand, and trade conditions in the United States and globally. They will also discuss future outlooks for global agricultural markets, as well as uncertainties and key risk factors.

In addition, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has had major impacts on Ukrainian agricultural production and exports, with repercussions for global food supply. In this context, Mr. Pavlo Martyshev of the Kyiv School of Economics Center for Food and Land Use Research will present the current state of Ukraine’s agricultural production and agricultural supply-demand situation, while also discussing prospects for the recovery of agricultural production and exports and the implications for international markets.

Furthermore, Mr. Hubertus Gay, the OECD lead responsible for the OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook, will provide comments based on these presentations.
