1393. Announcement of the JICA-JISNAS Symposium 2025 

The JICA-JISNAS Symposium 2025 will be held as follows. This symposium aims to foster discussions and exchanges between JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) and JISNAS (Japan Intellectual Support Network in Agricultural Sciences) on specific themes in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and regional development. It aims to deepen mutual knowledge and encourage active and proactive participation from young researchers to develop their capabilities.

This year's symposium will be held in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online sessions, and will focus on the theme "Challenges and Prospects for Developing Global Agricultural Research Human Resources - Focusing on Science and Technology Cooperation Volunteers." "Challenges and Prospects for Developing Global Agricultural Research Human Resources - Focusing on Science and Technology Cooperation Volunteers"

With a decline in overseas research interest among university students in recent years, cultivating researchers active in the international agricultural field has become a major challenge. In light of these circumstances, the Science and Technology Cooperation Volunteers (STC) program, which will be launched in 2026, is gaining attention as a new opportunity for graduate students (postgraduate course), postdoctoral fellows, and young faculty members to conduct collaborative research and write papers at research institutions in developing countries, thereby fostering local researchers and engaging in international cooperation. This symposium will provide an opportunity to share information about the program's overview, as well as to engage in multifaceted discussions on the potential for collaboration with university education and research activities, challenges facing student participation, and solutions, exploring new prospects for cultivating international agricultural researchers.

Date and Time: Friday, December 12, 2025, 2:00 PM - 4:50 PM (Registration begins at 1:30 PM) *A networking event will be held after the symposium (until 7:00 PM).

Format: A hybrid format will be held at the venue listed below and online. *If there are many applicants for in-person participation, applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
