907. JICA-JISNAS Symposium 2023 on December 11
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan International Support Network in Agricultural Sciences (JISNAS) will jointly host the JICA-JISNAS Symposium 2023 on December 11. The symposium aims to facilitate meaningful discussions and exchange of perspectives between JICA and JISNAS, focusing on specific issues in agriculture, forestry, fisheries and regional development. The goal is to enhance mutual understanding and knowledge while promoting active and proactive engagement, especially by strengthening the capacity of young people.
Following last year's format, this year's symposium will be held in a hybrid mode, allowing participants to participate either in person at the designated venue or virtually. The central theme for deliberations will be "Initiatives for International Brain Circulation in the Development Cooperation Charter". The continuation of this hybrid format underscores the commitment to inclusiveness and broadening the discussion on international cooperation in line with the Development Cooperation Charter.
Purpose of the Symposium
On June 9, 2023, the Cabinet approved a new Development Cooperation Charter, the first revision in eight years. This symposium aims to deepen our understanding of the key points of the revised charter, focus on the "international brain circulation" mentioned as co-creation with universities and research institutions in development cooperation, identify issues through sharing advanced case studies, and discuss future prospects.
