The 51st TARF Public Lecture entitled "Exploring the Diversity of Tropical Fruit Trees Around the World" was successfully held at the Ishigaki City Health and Welfare Center on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. The event was attended by 52 people.

The 51st TARF Public Lecture entitled "Exploring the Diversity of Tropical Fruit Trees Around the World" was successfully held at the Ishigaki City Health and Welfare Center on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. The event was attended by 52 people.

Dr. YAMANAKA Shinsuke, Project Leader of the "Tropical crop genetic resources" project, took on the role of lecturer. During the lecture, he provided an information of tropical fruit production worldwide. Dr. Yamanaka discussed the locations and uses of major tropical fruit tree varieties in the production areas of overseas, mainly in Asia. He reviewed the wide range of tropical fruit tree species found in tropical and subtropical regions of the world, providing insights into their regional variations, uses, and the diverse traits and genetic resources they represent. Dr. Yamanaka also highlighted present status in these regions related to tropical fruit tree diversity.

Following the presentation, the audience actively participated with numerous questions and comments, fostering a valuable exchange of views and opinions. The event proved to be a successful platform for knowledge sharing and discussion.
