On Friday, July 24, 2026, the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) welcomed 66 first-year students from Salesian International School Setagaya Junior and Senior High School for the 32nd (morning) and 33rd (afternoon) sessions of the Future Science Talent Academy.

“2050 Weather Forecast (Ver. 2)” Video Released
As record-breaking heat continues across Japan and around the world, the free online video “2050 Weather Forecast (Ver. 2),” was released at 1:00 p.m. on August 3. The video was produced by the 2050 Weather Forecast Production Committee, in which NHK Enterprises serves as one of the lead organizations. Dr. HASEGAWA Toshihiro, President of the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS), contributed to the project as an expert on food security issues.
Report on the Exhibit and Lecture on Palm Oil and Environmental Issues at the “Children’s Kasumigaseki Tour Day 2026”
On July 29, 2026, the “Children’s Kasumigaseki Tour Day 2026,” hosted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), was held at the ministry’s headquarters in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo. The event attracted numerous visitors, particularly families with children. The Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) cooperated in the Tsukuba City exhibition booth titled “Save the Earth with Potato Chip Oil! An SOS from the Tropical Rainforest: Solving Tough Challenges with Cutting-Edge Technology and Innovative Ideas.” Dr. OMORI Keisuke, Director of the Information and Strategy Program at JIRCAS, served as lecturer.

The Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) is pleased to announce that applications are now open for FY2026 under the International Collaborative Research Program (JIRCAS Fellowship). Eligible Researchers currently affiliated with research institutions in developing regions are encouraged to apply for one of the five selected research themes.
