Researchers from Can Tho University, Vietnam, Visit JIRCAS
On March 28, 2024, Associate Professor Tran Sy Nam and Researcher Huynh Van Thao from the College of Environment and Natural Resources, Can Tho University (CTU), Vietnam, paid a courtesy visit to President KOYAMA Osamu and exchanged views with JIRCAS researchers. With a history of cooperation spanning more than 30 years, JIRCAS and CTU have been conducting joint research since the 1990s and have been jointly implementing a comprehensive climate change project since 2021.
Sandagakuen Senior High School Explore "Ishigaki Island SDGs Program" at TARF
On Monday, January 22, 2024, 64 students in 11th grade from Sandagakuen Senior High School in Sanda City, Hyogo Prefecture, visited the Tropical Agriculture Research Front (TARF). The school is conducting a tour of institutions relevant to their "Ishigaki Island SDGs Program”.

58 Young Agricultural Trainees from ASEAN Countries Visit JIRCAS
On Monday, February 19, 2024, 58 young agricultural trainees from Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines visited JIRCAS. The trainees were divided into two groups for an introduction to JIRCAS research (indoor lecture) and an outdoor tour at the Hachimandai Experimental Field.

MAFF Event at COP28 Highlights Green Asia Initiatives
The 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from November 30 to December 13, 2023. As one of the events of AIM for Climate, an international initiative, a seminar introducing Green Asia was held on December 10, sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
ASEAN Forum Highlights the Technology Catalog for Asia-Monsoon Region
On November 22-23, 2023, the ASEAN Secretariat and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) jointly hosted the "ASEAN Forum on Action Plan for the Implementation of Regional Guidelines on Sustainable Agriculture" in Jakarta, Indonesia. The "Technology Catalog Contributing to Production Potential and Sustainability in the Asia-Monsoon Region" was introduced at the forum.
Uto High School Students Dive into Global Agricultural Challenges During JIRCAS Visit as Part of SSH Future Experiential Learning
A group of 21 first-year high school students and two teachers from Uto High School in Kumamoto Prefecture visited JIRCAS on December 7, 2023 as part of their Super Science High School (SSH) Future Experiential Learning program. This was the fifth visit by students from Uto High School.
Symposium on "Promoting the Implementation of Scalable Agricultural Technologies in the Asia-Monsoon Region" at the 6th IRC 2023
The International Rice Congress (IRC) is a conference organized by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and held every four years. The IRC was held for the first time in the Philippines, where IRRI is headquartered, for four days from October 16-19, 2023, and researchers from JIRCAS and NARO participated in the congress and held a symposium entitled "Promoting the Implementation of Scalable Agricultural Technologies in the Asia-Monsoon Region" on October 17.
