Senior Researcher UEDA Yoshiaki Selected as Recipient of the 2025 Japan Prize in Agricultural Sciences, Achievement Award for Young Scientists
Dr. UEDA Yoshiaki, Senior Researcher in the Crop, Livestock and Environment Division at the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS), has been selected as a recipient of the 2025 (The 24th) Japan Prize in Agricultural Sciences, Achievement Award for Young Scientists.
Miyako District Sugarcane Technicians Association Members Visit the Tropical Agriculture Research Front
On Thursday, October 9, 2025, a group of 20 members of the Miyako District Sugarcane Technicians Association visited the Tropical Agriculture Research Front (TARF). The association consists of personnel involved in sugarcane production in the Miyako region, including representatives from local sugar mills, municipal offices, prefectural extension divisions, and JA (Japan Agricultural Cooperatives). The group engages in information exchange and technical discussions regarding regional sugarcane production and actively conducts field visits to production areas outside their islands. This visit was arranged at the request of the Yaeyama Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Promotion Center’s Agricultural Improvement and Extension Division.

Future Science Talent Academy – 11th Session: Online Lecture for First-Year Students of Aichi Prefectural Meiwa Senior High School Junior High Division
On Thursday, September 25, 2025, the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) held the 11th session of the Future Science Talent Academy in an online format. A total of 99 first-year students from the Junior High Division of Aichi Prefectural Meiwa Senior High School participated in the lecture, which was themed “Knowledge Needed for Biological Observation and Perspectives for Inquiry-Based Learning.”
JIRCAS Participates in the 11th Kyushu Agro-Innovation
On September 17–18, 2025 (Wed–Thu), the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) participated for the first time in the 11th Kyushu Agro-Innovation – Kyushu Green Food System EXPO 2025, held at Marine Messe Fukuoka Building B and organized by the Japan Management Association.
