Overview
The JIRCAS Tropical Agriculture Research Front (TARF) will hold the 40th JIRCAS Public Lecture "Diversity of Tropical Fruit Trees in Asia" on December 13 (Tue), 2016, to introduce to the public the types and varieties of tropical fruit trees produced in Asia and their characteristics. We hope that the current situation of tropical fruit trees in Asia will provide an opportunity to obtain hints for expanding consumption and promoting the spread of tropical fruit trees in Japan. In addition, we would like to consider the future development of tropical fruit trees by touching on the use of various differences in characteristics (diversity).

About the 40th TARF Public Lecture
The JIRCAS Tropical Agriculture Research Front (TARF) conducts research that contributes to the sustainability of agriculture and the stable production of agricultural products in tropical and subtropical developing regions of the world. The public lectures aim to introduce some of its research activities to the general public in an easy-to-understand manner in the hope that the information will help the public understand the research activities and contribute to their daily lives.
This is the 40th TARF Public Lecture, which was first held in May 2007. In this lecture, "Diversity of Tropical Fruit Trees in Asia" will introduce to the public the types and varieties of tropical fruit trees produced in various parts of Asia and their characteristics. We hope that the current status of tropical fruit trees in Asia will provide an opportunity to obtain hints for expanding consumption and promoting the spread of tropical fruit trees in Japan. In addition, we would like to consider the future development of tropical fruit trees by utilizing the various characteristics (diversity) that vary depending on the variety, with examples of varieties grown at TARF.
