Participation at the 26th World Outlook Conference

2017-07-25

The World Outlook Conference is an annual gathering of international organizations, such as the OECD and other national organizations such as the USDA, where representatives present their outlook for agricultural products in major producing and consuming countries and compare the results among participants.

The World Outlook Conference for this year was held in Ireland at the Agriculture and Food Development Authority (Teagasc) in suburban Dublin from 8 to 9 June 2017. Dr. Jun Furuya, a senior researcher of the Social Sciences Division, attended the conference on behalf of JIRCAS. He reported the results of his analyses using a world food model that is currently under development. He showed the regions that are prone to nutrient deficiencies (for each nutritional element) and are vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change.
