1430. JIRCAS Research Highlights Presented at Kaset Fair 2026, Kasetsart University, Thailand

Kaset Fair 2026, an agricultural exhibition, is being held at Kasetsart University in Thailand from January 30 to February 7, 2026. Kaset Fair, Thailand's largest agricultural and food trade fair, is hosted annually by Kasetsart University. During the event, the university campus hosts a wide variety of exhibits, from research highlights related to the agriculture and food industry to sales of agricultural and food products, attracting many visitors.

At the JIRCAS booth, we introduce technologies for suppressing the liquefaction of fermented rice noodles, developed in collaboration with the Kasetsart University Food Research and Product Development Institute, as well as a prototype of koji amazake (sweet rice drink) made with Thai purple black rice (riceberry). We also exhibit "DOA Khon Kaen 4," a sugarcane variety developed in collaboration with the Khon Kaen Field Crops Research Center of the Department of Agriculture of Thailand and adopted as a recommended variety in the country.

The opening ceremony of Kaset Fair, held on January 30th, was attended by Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn of Thailand. Princess Chulabhorn, who holds a PhD in chemistry, founded the Chulabhorn Research Institute and the Chulabhorn Royal Academy, and is promoting research and human resource development, primarily in the fields of medicine, chemistry, and the environment. On the occasion of this exhibition, JIRCAS expressed its gratitude to Princess Chulabhorn for its long-standing collaborative research with Thailand, and presented her with research summary documents, including the "Technology Catalog Contributing to Production Potential and Sustainability in the Asia-Monsoon Region Ver.4.0," compiled by JIRCAS.
