From February 6 to 15, 2026, the KMITL Agricultural Fair 2026 was held at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) in Bangkok, Thailand. This fair is a comprehensive annual exhibition in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and food organized by the university, and it is the largest event of its kind in eastern Bangkok. The venue featured a wide variety of programs, including the sale of local agricultural products and processed foods, research presentations by students and researchers, and hands-on activities, attracting many visitors throughout the event.
The Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) participated in the general exhibition area together with the Shrimp Co-culture Research Laboratory (SCORL) of KMITL, with which it conducts joint research, and widely showcased its research findings related to shrimp aquaculture. The exhibition emphasized presenting research content in an easy-to-understand manner to a broad audience, including aquaculture producers, students, and local residents.
● Introduction to Shrimp Aquaculture Technology
Posters in Thai were created to explain the shrimp aquaculture technologies being developed through joint research, targeting audiences at the high school level and above. These were presented alongside aquarium displays. Many visitors asked questions about aquaculture management and the potential applications of the technology, indicating strong interest in the research outcomes.
● History of Collaboration between JIRCAS and KMITL
The long-standing collaboration between JIRCAS and KMITL was introduced through a timeline-style poster featuring photographs and descriptions for each year. This helped visitors understand how the partnership has evolved over time into the current joint research efforts.
● Exhibition and Distribution of Related Materials
At the exhibition booth, related materials such as Thai-language technical manuals on shrimp aquaculture and a Thai seaweed illustrated guide were displayed and distributed free of charge to interested visitors. These materials were highly appreciated, particularly by aquaculture practitioners and educators.
The KMITL Agricultural Fair is a large-scale, community-based agricultural exhibition that serves as a valuable platform for returning research results to society. JIRCAS will continue to contribute to the dissemination and development of sustainable aquaculture technologies in Thailand through ongoing collaboration with KMITL.
