On November 29, 2024 (Fri), 40 first-year students from Saitama Prefectural Kumagaya High School visited JIRCAS as part of their Tsukuba Science Tour.

From November 26 to 28, 2024 (Tue to Thu), JIRCAS showcased its research findings at the "Agribusiness Creation Fair 2024" held at Tokyo Big Sight. This event, hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, is a technical exchange exhibition that showcases the latest research results in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and food from industry, academia, and government across the country, and promotes collaboration between research institutes and businesses.
 

Dr. Guntur Venkata Subbarao, Senior Researcher, JIRCAS received the 8th Niigata International Food Award Grand Prix, and the award ceremony and commemorative lecture for the award winners were held on 20 November at the Toki Messe Niigata Convention Center.

On November 21, 2024 (Thu), 11 first-year master's students from the Department of Global Agricultural Sciences and 7 first- and second-year master's students from the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences at the University of Tokyo, along with one professor, visited JIRCAS as part of their lecture on "Advanced International Agriculture II."

On November 20, 2024 (Wed), 72 first-year junior high school students from Salesian International School Setagaya visited JIRCAS as part of their field trip.

A delegation from the Embassy of France in Japan, including the Counselor of Agriculture, Mr. Jérôme Perdreau, and the Counselor of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures, Dr. Claudine Girardo visit JIRCAS on October 29, 2024.

On November 14, 2024 (Thu), 32 first-year students from Tochigi Prefectural Tochigi High School visited JIRCAS as part of their “Tokyo-Tsukuba Study Tour.”

On November 9, 2024 (Sat), JIRCAS made its debut at the “Tsukuba Science Festival 2024” held at Tsukuba Capio, demonstrating puffing techniques using a popcorn machine to puff buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum), tartary buckwheat (F. tataricum), and rice (Koshihikari). The demonstration highlighted how nutritious foods can be produced using simple methods.

On November 11 and 12, 2024 (Mon and Tue), two classes comprising 77 second-year students from the science and math program of Okinawa Prefectural Kyuyo Senior High School visited JIRCAS as part of their study trip to Tokyo and Tsukuba.

On the afternoon of October 24, 2024, a visit was made to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) of Vietnam to meet with Vice Minister Phung Duc Tien, who is in charge of international cooperation and research.

A delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Lao PDR, including the Deputy Director General of Department of Planning and Cooperation, Dr. Phommy Inthichack, and Deputy Director General of Department of Agricultural Land Management, Dr. Thatheva Saphangthong visited JIRCAS on November 7, 2024. The Ministry is currently considering a new five-year Agriculture and Forestry development plan, and the delegation visits Japan to collect relevant information to formulate the plan.

Dr. NISHIGAKI Tomohiro (Senior Researcher, Crop, Livestock and Environment Division) has been named among the winners of the 43rd Japanese Society of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition (JSSSPN) Encouragement Award.

On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, approximately 20 newly hired staff members of the Ibaraki Prefectural Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries visited JIRCAS as part of their self-planned training program.

On November 1, 2024 (Friday), 39 first-year students and 2 faculty members from the Gunma Prefectural Kiryu High School visited JIRCAS as part of their “Tsukuba Science Tour.”
