The Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) is now accepting applications for fixed-term employment of young researchers.
In order to facilitate further advancement in research activities that address global challenges, JIRCAS is offering fixed-term employment aimed at nurturing excellent and highly motivated young researchers to conduct research in the field of agriculture, forestry and fisheries.

On May 29, 2025 （Thursday）, 31 first-year students from the Tokyo Metropolitan High School of Science and Technology visited　JIRCAS as part of their "Tsukuba Science Tour."

On May 22, 2025, four officials from the Forestry Agency's Overseas Timber Trade Policy Office and International Forestry Cooperation Office—including Assistant Directors HONDA Tomoyuki Honda and TABATA Akiko—visited JIRCAS.

As part of Science and Technology Week, JIRCAS held its first in-person open house event in six years on April 19, 2025 (Saturday).
 

On April 14, 2025 (Monday), 44 first-year students and one teacher from Johoku High School in Tokyo visited JIRCAS as part of their “Tsukuba Science Tour."

On April 12, 2025 (Saturday), JIRCAS participated in the “TSUKUBA SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY PRE EVENT 2025" held at Tsukuba Center Square (hosted by Tsukuba Machinaka Design). The event was blessed with good weather, and the venue was filled with the joyful voices of children as many research institutes set up interactive booths.

On April 11, 2025 (Friday), Dr. Amit Roy, Chair of the Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA), along with President SUZUKI Shuichi, former President KITANAKA Makoto, and other representatives, visited JIRCAS.
 

At the Panasonic Group pavilion, “Nomo no Kuni," at the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, the innovative “PALM LOOP^®"—developed through the SATREPS Oil Palm Trunk (OPT) Project—has been adopted as an interior material for the VIP reception room, showcasing a significant technological achievement.

On April 12 (Sat), we will participate in the “TSUKUBA SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY PRE EVENT 2025," hosted by Tsukuba Machinaka Design, at Tsukuba Center Square. 

JIRCAS has been promoting OA through institutional repositories and transformative agreements with publishers to publish research findings broadly without restrictions. Recently, JIRCAS officially formulated the “Open Access Policy of the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences."

The Tropical Agriculture Research Front (TARF) of the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) held the 54th TARF Public Lecture, titled “Learn about Sugarcane Ratoon Cultivation," on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 19:00 to 20:30 at the Audiovisual Room on the 2nd Floor of the Ishigaki City Health and Welfare Center. A total of 81 participants attended the event.

On March 18, 2025 (Tuesday), 31 experts and leaders from nine ASEAN member countries in the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sectors visited the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS). This visit was part of the “ASEAN - Japan Workshop on Carbon Neutrality, Food Security, and Sustainable Trade" field tour.

On March 23, 2025 (Sunday), as part of the excursion activities of the 14th National Science Koshien Tournament (held from March 21 to 24), 22 students from four teams—namely, Saitama Prefectural Kawagoe High School, Tottori Prefectural Yonago Higashi High School, Ibaraki Prefectural Hitachi Daiichi High School and Junior High School (Junior Division), and Ibaraki Prefectural Namiki Secondary School (Junior Division)—visited the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS).

On March 18, 2025 (Tuesday), 30 first-year students from Yamagata Prefectural Touoh Gakkan High School visited JIRCAS as part of their "Tsukuba Science Tour."
