On March 18, 2025 (Tuesday), 31 experts and leaders from nine ASEAN member countries in the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sectors visited the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS). This visit was part of the “ASEAN - Japan Workshop on Carbon Neutrality, Food Security, and Sustainable Trade" field tour.
During their visit, participants received an overview of JIRCAS, learned about the latest initiatives in the Green Asia project, explored the activities of JIRCAS-based venture companies, and were introduced to concrete strategies and case studies on the practical application of research findings. Following the presentations, lively discussions took place, where participants engaged in deep conversations about challenges and solutions faced by each country.
This workshop was co-hosted by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), the ASEAN-Japan Center (AJC), and the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA). It was held in Japan from March 17 to 19, 2025. The visit to JIRCAS was an integral part of the workshop program, providing participants with valuable practical insights.
