On August 1, 2024 (Thu), two events, "Children's Visit Day" and "Tsukuba Chibikko Hakase (Little Scientists) 2024," were held at the lobby on the first floor of JIRCAS main building. The theme of the event was "Let's Learn Together! Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries in Developing Regions."

On July 31, 2024, a kick-off meeting and Farmer Water Users Community (FWUC) workshop were held in Pursat Province, Cambodia, for the SATREPS project, which began in April this year, aiming to reduce methane emissions from paddy rice fields.

On August 1, 2024 (Thu), 17 second-year science students and one teacher from Fukuoka Prefectural Yahata High School visited JIRCAS as part of their "Tsukuba Research and Education City Study Tour."

On July 31, 2024 (Wed), 40 second-year students from the Science and Mathematics Department of Yamagata Prefectural Yamagata Minami High School, along with two teachers, visited JIRCAS as part of their "Tsukuba Science Tour."

On July 23, 2024 (Tue), 21 second-year Science Exploration students and one teacher from Shizuoka City High School visited JIRCAS as part of their "Tsukuba Science Tour."

On July 19, 2024 (Fri), 31 second-year students and three teachers from Tochigi Prefectural Sano High School visited JIRCAS as part of their "Tsukuba Science Tour."

On July 5, 2024 (Fri), 30 second-year students and three teachers from the Math and Science Department of Chiba Prefectural Sawara High School visited JIRCAS as part of their Tsukuba Science Tour.

On June 29, 2024, Dr. Mohammad Shamim Hasan MANDAL, a JSPS Postdoctoral in the Forestry Division, received the 28th Kira Award (Outstanding Young Researcher Category) at the 34th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Tropical Ecology (JASTE34) held in Fukui. The research that earned the award is titled ”Habitat suitability mapping for a high-value non-timber forest product: A case study of Rauvolfia serpentina.”

On June 29, 2024, Dr. HASADA Katsumi (Senior Researcher, Rural Development Division) received the Japan Society of Regional and Agricultural Development (JASRAD) Encouragement Award at the Society’s 2024 Spring Meeting.

On July 2, 2024, a mission from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) led by Dr. Qingfeng Zhang, Senior Director of the Agriculture, Food, Nature, and Rural Development Sector Office, visited the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) to discuss potential collaboration, with a focus on climate change adaptation strategies.
