JIRCAS Showcases Superfood "Quinoa" Research at "Harvest Festival"
From October 31 to November 1, 2025, the 64th "Harvest Festival" was held at the 4th floor Exhibition Hall A of Sunshine City World Import Mart Building in Toshima Ward, Tokyo. The annual special exhibition, organized by the Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries Technology Council Secretariat, the National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO), and the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS), showcased "Research and Development to Address Climate Change" as its theme.

Future Science Talent Academy – 16th Session: Second-Year Students from Kanazawa Nisui High School Visit JIRCAS
On Thursday, October 30, 2025, the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) welcomed 21 second-year students from the Natural Science Course of Kanazawa Nisui High School in Ishikawa Prefecture for the 16th session of the Future Science Talent Academy.
JIRCAS International Symposium 2025 Held
On October 27, 2025, the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) held the JIRCAS International Symposium 2025 at Hitotsubashi Hall in Tokyo. The theme of the symposium was: “Accelerating Application of Agricultural Technologies in the Asia-Monsoon Region: Taking Stock and the Way Forward for Enhancing Production Potentials and Sustainable Food Systems.”
Future Science Talent Academy – 15th Session: Students from Gunma Prefectural Maebashi High School Experience Soybean Varieties and Rust Disease Observation
On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, nine students from Gunma Prefectural Maebashi High School visited the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) for the 15th session of the Future Science Talent Academy.
JIRCAS Research Achievements Recognized by FAO
To commemorate its 80th anniversary, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) launched an initiative to recognize “Impactful Solutions”—outstanding technologies and practices proposed by FAO member countries that contribute to agriculture, farmers, and food security.
Four research achievements proposed by the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) were selected for this honor and officially recognized by FAO.

Dr. UEDA Yoshiaki, Senior Researcher in the Crop, Livestock and Environment Division at the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS), has been selected as a recipient of the 2025 (The 24th) Japan Prize in Agricultural Sciences, Achievement Award for Young Scientists.

Miyako District Sugarcane Technicians Association Members Visit the Tropical Agriculture Research Front
On Thursday, October 9, 2025, a group of 20 members of the Miyako District Sugarcane Technicians Association visited the Tropical Agriculture Research Front (TARF). The association consists of personnel involved in sugarcane production in the Miyako region, including representatives from local sugar mills, municipal offices, prefectural extension divisions, and JA (Japan Agricultural Cooperatives). The group engages in information exchange and technical discussions regarding regional sugarcane production and actively conducts field visits to production areas outside their islands. This visit was arranged at the request of the Yaeyama Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Promotion Center’s Agricultural Improvement and Extension Division.
