Visitors from Fukushima Prefectural Soma Agricultural High School
On December 2, 2024 (Monday), 33 first-year students from the Food Science Department at Fukushima Prefectural Soma Agricultural High School visited JIRCAS as part of their "Science Training" program.
The 53rd TARF Public Lecture Held on November 27
The Tropical Agriculture Research Front (TARF) of JIRCAS held its 53rd TARF Public Lecture titled "Learning from Sun Tzu's Art of War: Agriculture Resilient to Diseases" on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, from 19:00 to 20:30 at the Audiovisual Room on the 2nd floor of the Ishigaki City Health and Welfare Center. The event was attended by 47 participants.

TARF Researcher Takaragawa and Senior Researcher Matsuda Receive the 22nd Japan Crop Science Society Paper Award
Dr. TAKARAGAWA Hiroo (Researcher) and Dr. MATSUDA Hiroshi (Senior Researcher) of the Tropical Agriculture Research Front received the 22nd Japan Crop Science Society Paper Award for their research paper titled "Rapid Photosynthesis Measurement Using a Closed System in Sugarcane."

JIRCAS Participates in the Agribusiness Creation Fair 2024
From November 26 to 28, 2024 (Tue to Thu), JIRCAS showcased its research findings at the "Agribusiness Creation Fair 2024" held at Tokyo Big Sight. This event, hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, is a technical exchange exhibition that showcases the latest research results in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and food from industry, academia, and government across the country, and promotes collaboration between research institutes and businesses.

Dr. Guntur Venkata Subbarao, Senior Researcher, JIRCAS received the 8th Niigata International Food Award Grand Prix, and the award ceremony and commemorative lecture for the award winners were held on 20 November at the Toki Messe Niigata Convention Center.
Master’s Students from the University of Tokyo Visit JIRCAS
On November 21, 2024 (Thu), 11 first-year master's students from the Department of Global Agricultural Sciences and 7 first- and second-year master's students from the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences at the University of Tokyo, along with one professor, visited JIRCAS as part of their lecture on "Advanced International Agriculture II."

On November 14, 2024 (Thu), 32 first-year students from Tochigi Prefectural Tochigi High School visited JIRCAS as part of their “Tokyo-Tsukuba Study Tour.”
Exhibition at the “Tsukuba Science Festival 2024” to promote New Food Possibilities Through Puffing of Millets
On November 9, 2024 (Sat), JIRCAS made its debut at the “Tsukuba Science Festival 2024” held at Tsukuba Capio, demonstrating puffing techniques using a popcorn machine to puff buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum), tartary buckwheat (F. tataricum), and rice (Koshihikari). The demonstration highlighted how nutritious foods can be produced using simple methods.
Second-Year Students from Okinawa Prefectural Kyuyo High School Visit JIRCAS
On November 11 and 12, 2024 (Mon and Tue), two classes comprising 77 second-year students from the science and math program of Okinawa Prefectural Kyuyo High School visited JIRCAS as part of their study trip to Tokyo and Tsukuba.
Meeting with the Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam: Proposals for Social Implementation and New Research for Sustainable Agriculture
On the afternoon of October 24, 2024, a visit was made to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) of Vietnam to meet with Vice Minister Phung Duc Tien, who is in charge of international cooperation and research.
