Senior Researcher MAENO Kotaro Receives 19th JSPS Prize at the Award Ceremony
Dr. MAENO Kotaro, Senior Researcher in the Crop, Livestock and Environment Division, received the 19th (FY2022) Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Prize at the award ceremony held at the Japan Academy in Tokyo on February 7, 2023.

Dr. Marcy N. WILDER, Project Leader of the Fisheries Division, has been selected by the Association of Japanese Agricultural Scientific Societies to receive the 2023 Japan Prize of Agricultural Science / Yomiuri Prize of Agricultural Science.
Video on Environmental Conservation and Efforts to Prevent Red Soil Runoff in Okinawa Now Available
An international meeting to share knowledge on how to balance agricultural production and environmental conservation in tropical islands was held a year ago with participants from the Okinawa Prefectural Government, Ishigaki City Government, and the Department of Agriculture, Republic of the Philippines. A video presented at the meeting featuring efforts to protect the beautiful nature and precious blessings of the land and sea in Okinawa has been released with English subtitles.
SATREPS Project Representatives from Bolivia Visit JIRCAS to Strengthen Cooperation
The representatives of SATREPS Bolivia Project on the Bolivian side including Dr. Giovanna Almanza, Professor, Institute of Chemistry, University of San Andrés, Dr. Yonny Rene Flores Segura, Senior Researcher, Department of Chemistry, University of San Andrés, Dr. Wilfredo Rojas, Representative of the Andean Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (PROINPA) and others visited JIRCAS on January 30, 2023 to strengthen cooperation.
