The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) will begin accepting applications for the 17th Japan International Award for Young Agricultural Researchers (Japan Award) on January 23, 2023.
The purpose of this award is to further motivate young foreign researchers (under 40 years old) who are contributing to research and development in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and related industries in developing regions. Candidates must fall under the following criteria:
（1） Those who have shown outstanding performance in research and development in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, or related industries for a developing region, and who show great promise.
（2） Those who have shown outstanding achievements in research and development that will lead to future technological innovation in agriculture, forestry, fisheries or related industries for a developing region, and who show great promise.
The Japan Award is given to a maximum of three young foreign researchers each year. Each awardee will be invited to Japan and awarded a testimonial by the Chairman of the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Research Council (AFFRC) and an incentive grant of US$5,000 from JIRCAS (MOTAI/JIRCAS Award).
