An international meeting to share knowledge on how to balance agricultural production and environmental conservation in tropical islands was held a year ago with participants from the Okinawa Prefectural Government, Ishigaki City Government, and the Department of Agriculture, Republic of the Philippines. A video presented at the meeting featuring efforts to protect the beautiful nature and precious blessings of the land and sea in Okinawa has been released with English subtitles.

An international meeting to share knowledge on how to balance agricultural production and environmental conservation in tropical islands in conjunction with the JIRCAS Yama-Sato-Umi agroecosystem connectivity project was held a year ago on February 14, 2022 with participants from the Okinawa Prefectural Government, Ishigaki City Government, and the Department of Agriculture, Republic of the Philippines.

Since soil and water conservation and the compatibility of agricultural production and environmental conservation are global issues, Okinawa Prefecture presented the video on prevention of red soil runoff at the meeting. The video has been made available with English subtitles and can be viewed on the JIRCAS YouTube channel.

The video introduces efforts in Okinawa Prefecture to prevent red soil runoff and to protect the beautiful nature and blessings nurtured by the land and sea.
