It was said that “the 21st century is water century”. Due to the rapidly growth of wold population, the demand for water is continously increasing. With the intensive shortage in water resources, the conflicts over the water resources are expected to occur more frequently across the world. Such water issues are matters that not only arid regions and developing countries should face, but also international community should recognize and therefore take action to tackle. Operating by the World Water Council (WWC), which is an international multi-stakeholder platform, the World Water Forum is held every three years and now has become the largest-scale international conference to copy with water issues in the world. On April 12-17, 2015, the 7th World Water Forum was held in Daegu & Gyeongbuk, Republic of Korea. During the forum, various water-related issues were discussed, and policies for road maps were established. JIRCAS Africa Liasion involved the session on the theme “Water for development and prosperity - water for food” and discussion with regard to “Water-related issues in African region”, and collected the recent water-related information. In Daegu’s Expo & Fair, JIRCAS settled up a booth in Japan pavilion, and JIRCAS Africa Liaison introduced its research project on “Efficient use of cyclic water resources in Niger”. By slideshow and brochures, JIRCAS Africa Liaison exhibited its contribution to the African water resources. Moreover, several oral presentations were presented during the forum. The six-day forum gathered over 25,000 participants, which included heads of state, high-ranking international orgnization officials, local authorities, private sectors and experts, etc., from about 160 countries and regions. Because this forum was held in Southeast Asia, although few participants came from Africa, a lot of South Korea people and students visited the Expo & Fair. Their great enthusiasm for exhibition has impressed and motivated us to collect and to disseminate the useful information of agricultural research in Africa. The 8th World Water Forum will be hosted by in Brasilia, Brazil in 2018.
