936. Video of the TICAD 30th Anniversary Official Side Event "Toward Building a Sustainable and Resilient Food System in Africa" 

On December 1, 2023, JIRCAS hosted a hybrid official TICAD 30th anniversary side event, "Toward Building Sustainable and Resilient Food Systems in Africa".

Agricultural development in Africa must recognize and respect the diversity of agricultural production and food consumption, and adopt appropriate approaches. This event presented the challenges of African agriculture, Japan's contributions, the history and current status of international collaborative research, and research needs. Discussions were held on the diversity of agriculture in Africa and points to consider, including future international collaborative research, from the perspectives of crops, water resources, soils, microorganisms, agricultural management, and food supply.
