JIRCAS implements open data access on the official website
The JIRCAS has started to implement the open data access policy which makes information on the official website available for download in CSV and JSON-LD format.
JIRCAS scientists receive citation as “Highly Cited Researchers” for 4 consecutive years
Dr. Yasunari Fujita and Dr. Kyonoshin Maruyama, senior researchers in the Biological Resources and Post-harvest Division, were named to the global “Highly Cited Researchers 2017” list in the Plant and Animal Science category.
Visit of Gunma Prefectural Maebashi Girls’ Senior High School
A delegation from Gunma Prefectural Maebashi Girls’ Senior High School including 38 students and teachers visited JIRCAS on August 10, 2018 and participated in the “Tsukuba Science Tour” biology course.
Visit of Niigata Prefectural Nagaoka High School students
A group of 38 second-year senior high school students in the science-mathematics curriculum of the Niigata Prefectural Nagaoka High School, a Super Science High School (SSH), visited JIRCAS on August 7, 2018.

Laos PDR Minister Visits JIRCAS
The Minister and Head of the Prime Minister's Office of Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Dr. Phet Phomphiphak visited JIRCAS on July 11, 2018.
Delegation from Bolivia's PROINPA Foundation and Universidad de San Andres
A delegation including Dr. Antonio Gandarillas, representative of the PROINPA Foundation in Bolivia, Dr. Giovanna Almanza and Dr. Isabel Morales from the Universidad de San Andres visited the JIRCAS Headquarters on July 11, 2018.
Researcher Maeno Receives the 21st Century Hope Prize of the 5th Niigata International Food Award
Dr. Kotaro Maeno, a researcher in the Crop, Livestock and Environment Division was among those chosen to receive the 5th Niigata International Food Award, winning in the 21st Century Hope Prize category. A press conference was held at the Japan Press Center on July 9, 2018 to announce the award.
TARF Open House Day 2018
The Open House Day of the Tropical Agriculture Research Front (TARF) was held on June 24, 2019 with exhibits and demonstrations centered on the JIRCAS slogan "seeding for the future".
Pres. Iwanaga at the Rice CRP Independent Steering Committee Meeting in Montpelier, France
JIRCAS President, Dr. Masa Iwanaga, attended the Independent Steering Committee (ISC) meeting of the Rice CGIAR Research Program (CRP) held in Montpelier, France on June 7-8, 2018. The Rice CRP is promoted by research institutes (IRRI, AfricaRice, CIAT) under CGIAR together with research institutes from France (CIRAD, IRD).
