Visit of students from schools of the US military base in the Pacific region

A group of 35 high school students (Grade 9-12) and 6 teachers from schools of the US military bases in the Pacific region under the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) visited JIRCAS on September 10, 2019.

A group of 35 high school students (Grade 9-12) and 6 teachers from schools of the US military bases in the Pacific region under the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) visited JIRCAS on September 10, 2019. The visit was in conjunction with the Far East STEMinars of the DoDEA aimed at providing a platform for intensive studies in the field of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
JIRCAS researchers and staff introduced various research activities including aquaculture technologies for shrimp and cockles.
This kind of school activity could encourage young students in pursuing careers in science and technology in the future.
