JIRCAS Showcases Research Achievements at “MAHA 2024,” Malaysia’s Largest Agricultural Exhibit

The 2024 Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture & Agrotourism Show (MAHA 2024) was held from September 11 (Wed) to 22 (Sun) at MAEPS Serdang in Malaysia. MAHA, organized by the Malaysian Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS) and held every two years, is one of the largest agricultural events in Malaysia. This year, the exhibition attracted a record number of approximately 5.51 million visitors.

MAHA, organized by the Malaysian Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS) and held every two years, is one of the largest agricultural events in Malaysia. This year, the exhibition attracted a record number of approximately 5.51 million visitors.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) set up the Japan Pavilion, where Japanese companies and research institutes showcased technologies and innovations aimed at enhancing production capacity and sustainability in the ASEAN region, including Malaysia, while contributing to food security.

JIRCAS exhibited its carbon recycling project, highlighting the upcycling of agricultural residues using microbial saccharification technology. The focus was particularly on the utilization of old oil palm trees in Malaysia, showcasing the outcomes of joint research with research institutes such as Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). Many companies, organizations, and research institutes interested in biomass energy visited the JIRCAS booth during the event.
