1149. Increase in the Number of People Falling into Severe Food Insecurity
According to the United Nations, 2025 is predicted to be a year of constant crises in terms of food security.
According to the United Nations World Food Programme, hunger is on the rise, with 343 million people in 74 countries experiencing severe food insecurity, up 10% from last year. This figure includes 1.9 million people on the brink of catastrophic hunger and famine in areas such as Gaza, Sudan, South Sudan, Haiti, and Mali. Catastrophic conflicts, frequent climate disasters, and economic crises have increased the need for humanitarian assistance globally.
There is an urgent need to build resilient food systems to halt environmental destruction, improve nutrition and livelihoods, and respond to climate change.
