JIRCAS scientists among “Highly Cited Researchers” of Clarivate Analytics
Dr. Yasunari Fujita and Dr. Kyonoshin Maruyama were among the “Highly Cited Researchers” in the “Plant and Animal Science” category of the global information service company Clarivate Analytics as announced on November 15, 2017.

On November 2, 2017, the commendation ceremony of the 2017 Japan International Award for Young Agricultural Researchers was held at the U Thant International Conference Hall, United Nations University (UNU), Tokyo, Japan.

The Director General of the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA), Dr. Ismahane Elouafi visited JIRCAS On October 31, 2017 with Dr. Kristina Toderich of the ICBA Regional Office for Central Asia and Caucasus.
Director General of SDGC/A visits JIRCAS
Dr. Belay Begashaw, director general of the Sustainable Development Goals Center for Africa (SDGC/A), visited JIRCAS on October 25, 2017 during his official trip to Japan.
Deputy Minister of Malaysia visits JIRCAS
The Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department of Malaysia, YB Senator Dato 'Seri Devamany S. Krishnasamy, visited JIRCAS on October 22, 2017 and met with JIRCAS President Dr. Masa Iwanaga and other executive staff.
“Achievement Award for Young Scientist” from the Foundation of Agricultural Sciences of Japan
Dr. Kotaro Maeno, a researcher of the Crop, Livestock and Environment Division, received the 16th Japan Prize in Agricultural Sciences "Achievement Award for Young Scientist” on November 24, 2017.
JIRCAS at the Agribusiness Creation Fair 2017 and the Young Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries Researcher Award for Dr. Ikazaki
Six research activities were presented in JIRCAS exhibit at the Agribusiness Creation Fair 20172017 held at Tokyo Big Sight (Ariake, Tokyo) from October 4-6, 2017. In addition, Dr. Kenta Ikazaki, researcher of the Crop, Livestock and Environment Division was commended with the Young Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries Researcher Award in a ceremony held at the venue.
JIRCAS signs MOU with the Agricultural Research Institute of Guinea
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for research cooperation between JIRCAS and the Agricultural Research Institute of Guinea (IRAG) was signed on October 8, 2017.
“Young Agricultural Researcher Award” from the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Research Council
Dr. Kenta Ikazaki, a researcher of the Crop, Livestock and Environment Division, received the “Young Agricultural Researcher Award” from the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Research Council (AFFRC) for his outstanding achievement that has led to the development of a low-input agricultural practice, called the “Fallow Band System,” for controlling wind erosion and improving crop yield in West Africa.
