51st TARF Public Lecture Successfully Held on September 12

The 51st TARF Public Lecture entitled "Exploring the Diversity of Tropical Fruit Trees Around the World" was successfully held at the Ishigaki City Health and Welfare Center on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. The event was attended by 52 people.

PNAS Issues "Cozzarelli Prize" Certificate for the 2021 Best Paper: BNI-enabled Wheat Research

The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS) has issued the "Cozzarelli Prize” certificate  for the best paper of 2021, which has now been awarded to the recipients from JIRCAS.

Two JIRCAS Projects Under SATREPS Officially Start Joint Research Collaboration

Two JIRCAS research projects adopted in FY2021 under the Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS) program jointly implemented by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have been approved by the partner countries and will now officially start joint research, replacing the previous conditional collaboration.

Two proposals from JIRCAS have been provisionally selected1 for FY 2021 SATREPS (Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development) project, which is a collaboration between the Japan Science Technology Agency (JST) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) supported by MEXT and MOFA.

2019 Japan International Award for Young Agricultural Researchers

The awarding ceremony for the 2019 Japan International Award for Young Agricultural Researchers, also known as the “Japan Award” was held at the Tsukuba International Congress Center in Tsukuba, Ibaraki on November 26, 2019. The recipients of the Japan Award 2019 included researchers from Colombia, Vietnam and India.

"Cut Soiler" for salinity reclamation developed by JIRCAS featured in Indian e-newspaper

The "cut soiler," a new subsoil breaker introduced and operated in northern states of India under the collaboration project of JIRCAS and the Central Soil Salinity Research Institute (CSSRI),  was featured in The Tribune, an Indian e-newspaper on July 4, 2019.

JIRCAS President Iwanaga participates in the International Salinity Conference in Karnal, Haryana, India

President Masa Iwanaga, together with five senior officials of JIRCAS, attended the ICAR-CSSRI Golden Jubilee International Salinity Conference, titled “Resilient Agriculture in Saline Environments under Changing Climate: Challenges & Opportunities”, in Karnal, Haryana, India, on February 7-9, 2019.

MoU promises to strengthen partnership between JIRCAS and ICAR

JIRCAS and ICAR concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), dated 9th February 2018, for comprehensive research collaboration. JIRCAS has accordingly commenced the collaboration on soil salinity mitigation and crop improvement for salinity tolerance with CSSRI and IARI, which are both under ICAR, respectively. 

Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) delegates conduct special seminar at JIRCAS

On 20 December 2017, officials from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) conducted a special seminar at the JIRCAS International Conference Room, and exchanged views with JIRCAS executives and researchers regarding the implementation and related scientific activities of a joint research project being planned by JIRCAS and ICAR.

Announcement of Awardees and Awarding Ceremony of the 2012 Japan International Award for Young Agricultural Researchers

On November 28, 2012, the Awarding Ceremony of the 2012 Japan International Award for Young Agricultural Researchers was held at Tsukuba International Congress Center Epochal, Tsukuba City, Japan. The ceremony was well attended by many participants, including members of the Selection Committee.
