JIRCAS presented its biomass energy research activities and results at the “Agro Innovation 2022" organized by the Japan Management Association and held at Tokyo Big Sight from October 26 - 28, 2022. The event is a specialized exhibition showcasing cutting-edge technologies and products related to the entire value chain of Japan's agribusiness.

JIRCAS presented its research activities and results on biomass energy at the "Agro Innovation 2022" organized by the Japan Management Association and held at Tokyo Big Sight from October 26 - 28, 2022. The event is a specialized exhibition showcasing cutting-edge technologies and products related to the entire agribusiness value chain in Japan.

JIRCAS exhibited mainly the results of its research on microbial saccharification technology utilizing unutilized biomass from the oil palm industry and other sources in the Southeast Asian region. The IHI Corporation, which is conducting joint research with JIRCAS on "Sustainable Replantation of Oil Palm by Adding Value to Oil Palm Trunk through Scientific and Technological Innovation" under the Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS), also participated in the exhibition.

At the Biomass Expo Forum with the theme "Opening the way to a decarbonized society: Future plans for regional revitalization led by biomass energy” held on October 28, Project Leader KOSUI Akihiko (Biological Resources and Post-harvest Division) gave a lecture on "Challenges of biomass research and its social implementation by JIRCAS toward a decarbonized society," which was attended by over 100 people.

The number of visitors to the event was 6,910 over the three days. Although the number of visitors increased slightly from last year, the number of visitors to the JIRCAS booth was as large as in previous years. In particular, there was a lot of interest and inquiries about the microbial saccharification technology and the high-efficiency biogas production by the anaerobic wastewater treatment system (IC Reactor) by IHI Corporation, which showed the social contribution in the biomass energy field.

Thank you very much for visiting our booth during the exhibition
