A bilateral meeting between Minister Lucien Ranarivelo of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Madagascar and JIRCAS President, Dr. Masa Iwanaga was held on August 30, 2019.  Minister Lucien Ranarivelo was in Japan with other African leaders to attend the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7) held in Yokohama City on August 28-30, 2019 aimed at promoting high-level policy dialogue between African leaders and development partners. 

During the meeting, Dr. Yasuhiro Tsujimoto, JIRCAS Senior Researcher gave an overview of the current status of the research activities of JIRCAS in Madagascar. This was followed by a discussion between Minister Ranarivelo and President Iwanaga on areas of research cooperation useful for further agricultural development of Madagascar in the future.
