2019 Japan International Award for Young Agricultural Researchers
The awarding ceremony for the 2019 Japan International Award for Young Agricultural Researchers, also known as the “Japan Award” was held at the Tsukuba International Congress Center in Tsukuba, Ibaraki on November 26, 2019. The recipients of the Japan Award 2019 included researchers from Colombia, Vietnam and India.

Handover Ceremony of Fertilizer Production Demonstration Plant in Burkina Faso
In commemoration of the establishment of a demonstration plant for fertilizer production using phosphate rock, a handover ceremony was held at the Institute of Environment and Agriculture Research (INERA) in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso on October 24, 2019.
MOU on Research Collaboration Concluded between JIRCAS and NARC
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for promoting joint research collaboration between JIRCAS and the Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) was concluded in a signing ceremony held on November 13, 2019 at the Alfa House in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Delegation from Vietnam’s Agricultural Genetics Institute Visits JIRCAS
A delegation from the Agricultural Genetics Institute (AGI) of Vietnam including the Director General, Dr. Pham Xuan Hoi, visited JIRCAS on November 1, 2019 to acquire information on current trends in biotechnology, particularly genome editing and marker selection for rice breeding, and to explore the possibility of research collaboration in the future.
