The research results published by 12 JIRCAS research staff and others have been honored with four awards from the Japanese Society of Irrigation, Drainage and Rural Engineering (JSIDRE). The achievements represent the results of research projects on Climate change measures in Monsoon Asia, Watershed management in Africa, Africa upland farming system, Yama-Sato-Umi agroecosystem connectivity, and Multiple use of regional resources in semi-mountainous villages. They were recognized for their innovative approaches to irrigation, applicability in other regions, practical research useful to engineers, contribution to international guidelines, and the establishment of basic data and technology transfer for sustainable resource utilization.
JSIDRE is a professional and technical organization of members who are interested in engineering knowledge and technology for agricultural infrastructure and rural development. These awards are expected not only to improve technology outside Japan, but also to stimulate research and technology exchange between Japan and other countries.
