A group of 17 third-year students and two faculty members from Tokyo University of Agriculture visited the Tropical Agriculture Research Front (TARF) on November 22, 2022.

The TARF researchers gave an overview of their research in the test-field where they are actually conducting their research activities. Researcher SAITO Hiroki explained his research on rice in the rice field in test-field district No.8. Project Leader ANZAI Toshihiko and Researcher OKAMOTO Ken explained about research on environmental conservation technologies for tropical islands in the lysimeter and soil erosion test-field with artificial slope. Project Leader YAMANAKA Shinsuke explained about the research on tropical fruit trees in the orchard and tropical fruit tree greenhouse at test-field district No.12. Researcher TAKARAGAWA Hiroo introduced his research on sugarcane at test-field district No.1. The students asked questions to the researchers after the explanation of each research.

The students may take various career paths, but we hope that this visit will benefit them in some way, including the possibility of cooperation with JIRCAS in the future.
