The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Colombia to Japan, H.E. Mr. Santiago Pardo, and Dr. Deyanira Barrero, General Manager of the Agricultural and Livestock Institute of Colombia (ICA) visited JIRCAS on October 10, 2019. Japan is an important partner of Colombia in the trade of coffee, flowers, cacao and other agricultural products. Recently, avocado export to Japan has also been lifted, and the need for cooperation in the agricultural sector of both countries is increasing. Dr. Barrero talked about the possibility of joint research collaboration in plant protection and fisheries with JIRCAS in the discussion and exchange of opinion with Vice President Osamu Koyama.
