A delegation from the CGIAR Genebank Platform including Dr. Tom Payne (Management Team Chair, CIMMYT), Dr. Charlotte Lutsy (Genebank Platform Coordinator, Crop Trust), and Dr. Noelle Anglin (Genebank Manager, CIP) visited JIRCAS on October 9, 2019. Dr. Lutsy talked about the Crop Trust system that manages and operates seeds of valuable crop genetic resources operated at 11 CGIAR centers. The discussion and exchange of opinion with JIRCAS Vice President Osamu Koyama focused on protection, appropriate management, operation, and distribution of crop genetic resources which are valuable resources for the international community amidst globalization and climate change.
