JIRCAS participated in the Agribusiness Creation Fair 2018 held at the Tokyo Big Sight on November 20-22, 2018. This annual fair provides a good opportunity to communicate and conduct exchanges on the new developments and achievements among research institutions, universities and companies. In addition Dr. Satoru Muranaka, Subproject Leader in the Crop Livestock and Environment Division gave a presentation on "Possibility of creating new business in developing regions through collaboration with the CGIAR, a global partnership of international organizations engaged in research for a food-secured future".

The JIRCAS exhibit featured research achievements on the low-cost shallow underdrain drainage technical manual for salt damage reduction; genome sequencing of Guinea yam and development of sex discrimination markers; functional improvement of broccoli sprout using slightly acidic electrolyzed water; and improvement of lactic acid fermentation by adjusting the pH of oil palm sap.
