Due to the growing concern about health and environment by consumers, the production scale of organic farming in Indonesia has been expanding. According to the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture, the certified organic farming products were planted in nearly 60,000 ha of land in all over the country in 2012. Under these backgrounds, Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development (IAARD) organized the National Seminar on Organic Farming: Toward the Innovation of Organic Farming Technology for Healthy Lifestyle, in Bogor, West Java on June 18 and 19, 2014. The major purpose of this seminar was to disseminate the innovation of organic farming technology and to develop a network among stakeholders. In the seminar, ten invited speakers including one from JIRCAS gave the presentations, followed by 80 oral and poster presentations in three parallel sessions: plant protection, farm management, and policy and institution. In the presentation given by JIRCAS, study results of policy evaluation about chemical-fertilizer-free rice production in Sragen Regency of Central Java province were reported. The seminar attracted various participants including policy planners, farmers and private sectors as well as researchers. At the meantime, local newspaper offered a special coverage about the seminar.
