On October 19th, Bill Gates updated his blog with more details on his current book, “How to Avoid a Climate Disaster: The Solutions We Have and the Breakthroughs We Need”, and announced that the book will be published by Knopf Publishing House on February 16, 2021. For more than a decade, Bill Gates has been studying climate change with experts in various disciplines and investing in the innovations to address it. The book aims to explain the science of climate change, propose a plan to build the tools that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero, and suggest concrete steps that governments, companies, and individuals can take to make it happen.

Through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates helps everyone lead a healthy and prosperous life. This includes funds for grants to international development programs such as the CGIAR, an international network engaged in research in the field of agriculture, forestry and fisheries. One of his blogs is aptly titled You’ve probably never heard of CGIAR, but they are essential to feeding our future, recognizing the importance of an international research network.

As a CGIAR partner, JIRCAS is actively promoting research that leads to reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through joint research with the CGIAR Research Centers and dispatch of researchers. We will hold a symposium on November 10th (Tuesday) on the importance of international cooperation in addressing global issues. Please join us.
