911. 50th JIRCAS Southeast Asia Liaison Office Anniversary Symposium

JIRCAS established the Southeast Asia Liaison Office at the Thai Ministry of Agriculture in Bangkok in 1972. Now that travel restrictions due to COVID-19 have been lifted, the 50th Anniversary Symposium is scheduled for Thursday, December 14, 2023. The event will have a hybrid format, with both in-person sessions at a venue in Thailand and virtual participation.

The symposium will be divided into two parts. In the first part, JIRCAS and its Thai partners will present the history and achievements of collaborative research in various fields such as soil, livestock, forestry, food, pest management, aquaculture, and plant breeding. The second part will focus on introducing the JIRCAS Green Asia Project, FAO's Science and Innovation Strategy for the Asia Monsoon Region, and the ASEAN Regional Guidelines for Sustainable Agriculture. Discussions will also focus on the future trajectory of JIRCAS collaborative research and international networking in Southeast Asia.
