The Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) will exhibit at [Smart Energy Week “Biomass EXPO / International Biomass Exhibition”], to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from Tuesday, March 17 to Thursday, March 19, 2026.
This time, JIRCAS’s exhibit information, as posted on the official exhibition website has been selected as one of the “Top 3 Featured Products.” This ranking is awarded to exhibits that have attracted particularly high levels of interest and page views among the many exhibitors.
In this exhibition, JIRCAS will introduce its “next-generation biomass upcycling technology,” which is being developed to convert various unused biomass—such as trunks, fronds, shells, fibers, and wastewater—generated in oil palm plantations, into clean energy and high value-added materials at low cost.
This technology is an innovative solution that simultaneously achieves “greenhouse gas reduction,” “water quality improvement,” and “maintenance of agricultural productivity,” thereby contributing to the sustainability of agricultural regions, including those in developing countries, and to the creation of a circular society.
At the JIRCAS booth, visitors will be able to see:
- Actual samples of unused biomass generated from the palm industry
- Panels and models explaining the process flow of the technology
- Video presentations showing the actual treatment processes
- The latest updates on research results and progress toward social implementation
- Explanations of the technology and consultations provided by researchers
By speaking directly with researchers, visitors can learn in detail about the background of the technology and its potential applications. JIRCAS warmly invites everyone to visit the JIRCAS booth (South Hall 1, S13-11) and see the progress toward the development and social implementation of its “next-generation biomass upcycling technology.”
