Based on the Strategy for Sustainable Food Systems “MIDORI” formulated in May 2021, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) initiated the project "Accelerating application of agricultural technologies which enhance production potentials and ensure sustainable food systems in the Asia-Monsoon region" in FY2022. The fourth meeting was held online on March 15, 2024.

The third meeting of the International Scientific Advisory Board was held in Tokyo (hybrid) on September 21, 2023.

With the launching of the Sustainable Food Systems Strategy “MeaDRI” in May 2021, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) is promoting the application of agricultural technologies which enhance production potentials and ensure sustainable food systems. From FY2022, MAFF has initiated the project “Accelerating application of agricultural technologies which enhance production potentials and ensure sustainable food systems in the Asia-Monsoon region”, which is now being implementing at JIRCAS under the name of the "Green Asia” project. The 2nd meeting of the International Scientific Advisory Board for Strategy “MeaDRI” was held on March 16, 2023.

Based on its many years of experience in international research collaboration in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, JIRCAS has been working on the project “Accelerating application of agricultural technologies which enhance production potentials and ensure sustainable food systems in the Asia-Monsoon region” since FY2022 as an implementing agency assigned by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. On October 25, the first meeting of the International Scientific Advisory Board for Strategy “MeaDRI” was held in Tokyo and there was a lively exchange of views and advice on the activities of the project.
